The Art of Education
The Assumption Province has a long history and tradition of education. Historically, we had three high schools a college and school of theology. As times changed so did our involvement in this traditional work of the Order. The following educational institutions are sites which have the presence of at least one friar on campus.
Fr. Leslie Hoppe, OFM has taught at Catholic Theological Union (Chicago) for many years. Having received his degree in Scripture from the Northwestern University (Chicago) Divinity School, Leslie has taught, lectured, and authored numerous books on the Bible. He is internationally known and respected in his field. Leslie also served the fraternity as Provincial Minister during the years of 2005-2011
Fr. Stephen Malkiwicz, OFM. left his family in New Jersey, and became a life-long member of the fraternity in 1964. He was able to polish his interest in Catholic Liturgy by earning a degree from Notre Dame University (South Bend, IN). He has used his degree for many years in a number of institutions of higher learning, most recently at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. Fr. Steve retired from instructional ministry in 2018
