The Art of Education

 

 

The Assumption Province has a long history and tradition of education. Historically, we had three high schools a college and school of theology. As times changed so did our involvement in this traditional work of the Order. The following educational institutions are sites which have the presence of at least one friar on campus.

Fr. John Cella, OFMFr. John Cella, OFM holds advanced degrees in Business Administration, Theology and Canon Law. He made solemn vows in 1977 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1978. John has taught at Christ the King Seminary (East Aurora, NY), St. Bonaventure University (Alleghany, NY) and Mundelein Seminary (Chicago, IL); he was Vicar for Religious in Chicago; he was the Director of Development for the Franciscan Order in Rome, and served on various Archdiocesan Tribunals over the years. John is currently the Treasurer of the Assumption Province. He assumed the duties of Director of Franciscan Pilgrimages in January of 2005.

Fr. Leslie Hoppe, OFMFr. Leslie Hoppe, OFM has taught at Catholic Theological Union (Chicago) for many years. Having received his degree in Scripture from the Northwestern University (Chicago) Divinity School, Leslie has taught, lectured, and authored numerous books on the Bible. He is internationally known and respected in his field. Leslie also served the fraternity as Provincial Minister during the years of 2005-2011
